The 2001 World Series moved to Yankee Stadium for Game 3, exactly seven weeks after the September 11 terrorist attacks devastated New York City and stunned the country. President George W. Bush, wearing a New York Fire Department jacket, threw out the ceremonial first pitch. “For the first time I think in the history of baseball, people around the country were pulling for the Yankees to win,” marveled actor and lifelong Yankees fan Billy Crystal. In a thrilling seven-game series, the Diamondbacks prevailed.
