Super-Sized Gloves

Outfielders’ gloves progressively lengthened over time until being limited to thirteen inches in length, but in the 1980s some major leaguers quietly took to the field with larger gloves. “For certain, some of the gloves are too big,” said Cincinnati Reds Manager Lou Piniella. “I saw some gloves on the Yankees that looked like loaves of bread.” Outfielder Ichiro Suzuki of the New York Yankees used this regulation glove during the 2012 postseason.
