Zippy at the Small Press Expo

Twenty-five years ago, in 1994, Small Press Expo (SPX) hosted its first festival in Bethesda, Maryland. In 2007, cartoonist Jacob Covey incorporated Bill Griffith’s illustration featuring his signature character Zippy the Pinhead into the promotional poster design. In 2011, the Library of Congress and SPX forged a partnership, acknowledging the importance of acquiring, preserving, and making accessible independently produced graphic novels, comic strips, mini-comics, web comics, posters, drawings, and ephemera to the Library’s researchers.
