The Iran-Contra Trial

Artist Aggie Kenny traveled to Washington, D.C., to cover a criminal case arising out of the Iran-Contra hearings on the secret sale of arms to Iran during the Reagan administration. Here, Oliver North's chief defense attorney, Brendan V. Sullivan, addresses the jury, while Judge Gerhard Gesell listens. In the foreground, chief prosecutor John W. Keker sits pensively between Michael R. Bromwich to his right and David M. Zornow to his left. Oliver North, on the extreme right, sits with his hands clasped beside defense attorney Barry S. Simon. Although found guilty on three counts, North's convictions were later overturned.
