Lest We Forget

Frances Jetter devises an arresting visual metaphor to drive home an important message about the Persian Gulf War in this illustration. From the upper right, a huge hand opens to release cascades of tiny human skulls, representing thousands of Iraqi lives lost, a point rarely made by the media. In this and other works, she employs her distinctive aesthetic in creating linocuts, a type of print that suits her bold, linear style.
