Lack of Progress

Employees of a women's bookstore bemoan the lack of progress on women's issues that include attitudes toward body image, birth control, and self-esteem in this episode of Alison Bechdel's acclaimed strip that ran 1983–2008. Her appealing, mostly lesbian characters do not stand out as stereotypes but are varied, engaging, and memorable individuals whose lives reflect universal concerns. In this respect, Bechdel has made a significant contribution to comics about women.
