Military Veteran Art

The Combat Paper Project, founded by Iraq War veteran Drew Cameron and artist Drew Matott, invited veterans to cope with war experiences by creating art with pulp paper made of old uniforms. This work is based on a 1963 photo from Vietnam veteran, Army medic Dick Iacovello (shown second from the left) who recalled: “As a medic it was required to accompany troops on reconnoitering. This was just one day outside Phu Bai about 10 kilometers from Huế. This image was kept in my scrapbook of photos for 45 years, unseen until I made my Combat Paper.”
