E. D. Nixon’s Office Manager

In the 1940s and 1950s Rosa Parks managed the office of E. D. Nixon, director of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters’ Montgomery Division and president of the Montgomery NAACP. The work brought her into contact with a community of union organizers and others that championed progressive causes. She became a staunch supporter of the labor movement.
