Recollections of the Bus Boycott

Aubrey Williams, publisher of the Southern Farmer and a boycott supporter, interviewed E. D. Nixon for an article in his newspaper. Williams probably paid Rosa for editing the transcript to help her financially. In this excerpt Nixon recounts the support of local black ministers for the bus boycott; the selection of Martin Luther King, Jr., as president of MIA; and a white man’s firing of the seventy-two year old black maid his family employed for forty-eight years in retaliation for her participation in the boycott.
