Augustus Bennett Warfield

A veteran of the Spanish-American War and the Philippine-American War, Major Augustus Bennett Warfield commanded the 332nd Field Artillery Regiment as they trained for overseas service. World War I was fought largely with artillery, and Warfield's meticulous notes of his instruction of his artillerymen and accompanying photographs document the regiment's preparations at Camp Sherman, Ohio. Warfield went on to serve in France and Germany and was wounded in October 1918.
