"World War Comes to an End"
The Atlanta Constitution, like other newspapers, announced the war's end with big bold banner headlines and emphasized the timing of 11:00 a.m. Paris time on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, a date that was designated Armistice Day. The following year Armistice Day (now Veterans Day) was designated to honor those who had died in the war. The Constitution was also following other chaotic events on their front page, including unrest in Germany and Kaiser Wilhelm's abdication and departure for the Netherlands.
