Reminders of War
The medal, dog tags, and French bank note for fifty centimes displayed in this case belonged to Arthur C. Chandler, a soldier and cook from Oklahoma. Chandler served during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, the last and longest American-led, Western-Front campaign of the war. The medal with the distinctive double rainbow ribbon was known as a World War I Victory Medal and was given to everyone who served in the U.S. armed forces during the Great War.
