The War in the Air
As the war in the skies progressed, pilots were required to learn new tactics to evade increasingly sophisticated enemy aircraft. Developments were also made in weaponry such as this Model 1918 Lewis Machine Gun that had a higher rate of fire than its predecessor. These materials come from the Library's L'Aerophile Collection, which documents many aspects of aeronautics including plans of planes and their weaponry as well as instructional diagrams for air tactics.
