Collection Description (CRHP): Mary Jo Deering published an article on her research, the materials of which are in this collection, titled "Oral History and School Integration Research: A Case Study" in the Oral History Review (1979), 27-41.
Collection Description (Extant): The Oral History Collection is comprised of materials gathered since the early 1970's, when Mary Jo Deering and others began the Oral History Program at The George Washington University. A large part of these early years covers the subject of school integration in Montgomery County, Maryland. Other topics include: housing, performing arts in Washington (including Wolf Trap), Foggy Bottom neighborhood, and various aspects of GW history . . . .
Materials in this collection include audio cassette tapes, audio reel tapes, transcripts, correspondence, scrapbooks, photographs, news clippings, and articles. They range in date from 1904-97, and were transferred to the University Archives by the participants of the Oral History Project.
