Collection Description (CRHP): John Hmurovic produced the television documentary "The Magic City of Steel: A History of Gary, Indiana" in 1996-1997. The documentary has four parts:
1. A promise of greatness : beginnings to 1918
2. Growing up in a difficult time : 1918-1945
3. Prosperity and problems : 1945-1967
4. A changing world : 1967-1997.
Hmurovic gave the CRA two copies of the final edited program and twenty videotapes of unedited footage, including all still photographs gathered during the research process and all interviews with live subjects. The videotapes are part of the WYIN-TV Records; indices to these tapes can be found in the John Hmurovic Papers (see below).
