Repository description (CRHP): The Charles L. Blockson Collection contains the "Raymond Trent Oral History Collection," thousands of taped recordings-many relating to civil rights. This collection is augmented by two other smaller private collections including the Blockson Collection and the Alpha Boule Society Collection which addresses civil rights issues.
Repository description (extant): The Charles L. Blockson Collection is one of the nation's leading research facilities for the study of history and culture of people of African descent. The collection holds materials with a special emphasis on the experiences of African Americans in Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley region. The collection holds materials, public programs and services for research scholars in the fields such as history, American studies, Africana studies and many regional/area disciplines.
