Repository description (extant): The Martha's Vineyard Museum is dedicated to furthering an interest in, experience of, and appreciation for the history and culture of the Island and its environs. In order to achieve these goals, the Martha's Vineyard Museum will:

- Present collaborative educational programs
- Actively involve the people of Martha's Vineyard
- Support scholarly research
- Add to its museum, library and archival collections
