Repository description (extant): The West Las Vegas Library is a gathering place for the community. It features the African American Special Collection consisting of specialized materials by and about African Americans, and the Library District's first dedicated Homework Help Center. The 1,540 square feet Center adjacent to the Young People's Library offers core print and electronic materials for students K-8 with a 20-seat dedicated homework help computer lab. The branch also offers free wireless Internet access.

The emphasis of the collection is on the African American experience in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the West. The core collection consists of books, periodicals, government publications, videos, and other audiovisual materials. The collection also provides a file of pamphlets, newspaper clippings and photographs.
