Repository description (extant): The Society's research library, the Charlottesville-Albemarle Historical Collection, is operated jointly with the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library. The Collection focuses principally on the history, people, and activities of our Albemarle County and Charlottesville communities, while also containing materials on the history of Virginia as a whole, which led to the settlement and development of our area. The Collection includes over 4,000 books and bound periodicals, other serial publications, manuscripts, maps, pamphlets, and vertical/subject files relating to the history of the community, as well as a collection of over 60,000 photographic images.
