Repository description (CRHP): The Maag Library manages the extensive materials collected as part of the Youngstown State University Oral History Program.
Repository description (extant): The Department of Archives & Special Collections of the William F. Maag, Jr. Library of Youngstown State University serves two distinct functions.
Archives serve as the official and final repository for the historical records of Youngstown State University (previously known as Youngstown College) from its establishment in 1908 to the present time.
The Special Collections serve as an archival repository for historical materials which are neither official university records nor faculty papers, but which relate to the history and culture of the geographical region of which YSU is a part. This includes the city of Youngstown, Mahoning County and the Mahoning Valley.
Repository Notes (CRHP): The original recordings of oral history interviews have long been stored at YSU's Center for Historic Preservation (Phelps Building), the home of YSU's Oral History Program. Transcripts are available at the Maag Library. In fall 2010, the audio recordings were digitized; both audio and transcripts are/will be accessible via the Maag Library's Oral History Digital Collection site: http://www.maag.ysu.edu/oralhistory/oral_hist.html.
