This often-requested book features black and white photographs from the Blue Ridge Parkway Folklife Project conducted by The American folklife Center in cooperation with the National Park Service in August and September 1978. Edited by Lyntha Scott Eiler, Terry Eiler, and Carl Fleischhauer. Published by the Library of Congress, 1981.

Documenting Maritime Folklife coverDocumenting Maritime Folklife [PDF, 87pp., 21.3 MB]
This 1992 book by David Taylor promotes understanding of maritime cultural heritage and provides guidelines for cultural documentation. Although some of the equipment used in cultural documentation has changed, the fieldwork techniques have not. See Folklife & Fieldwork below for a companion fieldwork manual. The book is out of print.

Egg Art booklet coverEgg Art [PDF, 15 pages, 2.42 MB]
This booklet produced by the American Folklife Center in 1982 is long out of print, yet still in demand. It gives a brief description of European egg decorating traditions and explains the techniques for producing elaborate designs.
