Title
- The Northern Great Plains photographs from the Fred Hultstrand and F.A. Pazandak photograph collections /
Summary
- The Fred Hulstrand History in Pictures Collection and The F.A. Pazandak Photograph Collection, two collections from the Institute for Regional Studies at the North Dakota State University, contain 900 photographs depicting rural and small-town life at the turn of the century. Presentation features images of sod homes and the people who built them; farms and the machinery that made them prosper; and one-room schools and the children that were educated in them. The Fred Hultstrand Collection documents the settlement of the northern Great Plains, particularly northeastern North Dakota, focusing on the transformation of the American frontier from the early 1880s to the 1920s. F.A. Pazandak, a North Dakota farmer, recorded the mechanization of American farming in the early twentieth century through images taken on his family farm near Fullerton, in southeastern North Dakota.
