- - A satirical comment on Adolf Hitler's political deception in negotiating the 1938 Munich Pact. Disguising German expansionism with bellicose demands of self-determination for the German-speaking population of Czechoslovakia's Sudetenland, Hitler sought to annex the region as a German province. The leaders of Great Britain and France succumbed to Hitler's demands without consulting Czechoslovakia in order to avert a military invasion of the region. Although the four powers guaranteed Czechoslovak independence, Hitler had no intention of complying with the agreement and by March of 1939 the German occupation of the entire country was complete.
