- - According to Osborn this drawing is an earlier version of a similar one that appeared on the cover of the book Trial by Television and Other Encounters by Michael Straight. He believes it may also have been used in the New Republic. Osborn's image comments on the ruthless, repressive tactics of McCarthy and his associates during the hearings. Osborn published many images in the New Republic during 1954 associated with the McCarthy trials, but there is no evidence that this was among them.
