  • -  Wallace, a highly publicized and controversial figure due to his segregationist policies, ran for President as a candidate of the Independent party in 1968. He put in another bid for the Presidency in 1972, but an assassination attempt preempted his campaign. The drawing is one of several for an article entitled, "Can Wallace Be Made Respectable," which discusses his Florida primary campaign and Cornelia's influence on her husband's public image.

All images can be viewed at a large size when you are in any reading room at the Library of Congress. In some cases, only thumbnail (small) images are available when you are outside the Library of Congress because the item is rights restricted or has not been evaluated for rights restrictions.
