• -  The volume numbering of Le Télégraphe and one of its predecessors, La Sentinelle d'Haïti, seems to indicate that they are successors of Gazette Politique et Commerciale d'Haïti, which was the first newspaper published in Haiti. The first issue of Gazette Politique was published on November 15, 1804, in Cap-Haïtien. La Sentinelle d'Haïti first appeared in 1807, located in Port-au-Prince. Issues of La Sentinelle d'Haïti from 1808 are called an 5ème, which would imply the publication originated in 1804, when the sole publication in Haiti was Gazette Politique et Commerciale d'Haïti. There does not appear to be any indication the two newspapers are related, apart from the numbering which may be coincidental. La Sentinelle d'Haïti was replaced by Bulletin Officiel, "Gazette du Port-au-Prince", in 1809 (Bref coup d'œil sur les origines de la presse haïtienne, 1764-1850, 1986, p. 31). Bulletin Officiel was then replaced by Le Télégraphe, with its first issue appearing on March 28, 1813. Le Télégraphe was suppressed in 1843 and Le Moniteur Haïtien appeared on February 8, 1845, picking up where Le Télégraphe left off (Moniteur haïtien, 8 février 1845, p. 1). Le Moniteur Haïtien, "Journal Officiel de la République", had a slight change in title, becoming Le Moniteur, "Journal Officiel de la République d'Haïti", on April 20, 1867. As of April 2024, Le Moniteur continues to be published.
