Notes
- - Caption label from exhibit Drawing Justice: Jury Sorts out Murder-for-Hire of a Judge. Wealthy Texas industrialist T. Cullen Davis was tried for attempted murder of Joe Eidson, the judge overseeing his divorce. This drawing shows the Houston jury listening to FBI tapes in which Davis's friend-turned-informant, David McCrory, in collusion with the FBI, attempted to incriminate Davis. In a case with more twists than a made-for-TV movie, Eidson had faked his own death for the FBI in the unsuccessful move to trap Davis. His lawyer, Richard "Racehorse" Haynes, worked hard to understand the jury which, ended up deadlocked on the solicitation for a capital murder charge. Haynes said, "A jury is like a computer. Twelve components working together, scanning, observing, sworn to pay attention a formidable machine!"
