  • -  Свое название площадь получила от одноименного Владимирского приюта, расположенного на ее территории. Здание приюта немного видно на снимке, с правой стороны, между двумя каменными двухэтажными домами, через пролет соединяющих их деревянных ворот. Оба здания в начале XX столетия были перестроены и стали трехэтажными. Во время съемки в зданиях слева располагался винный завод Смирнова, о чем свидетельствует вывеска. На первом этаже небольшая часть дома была отдана под аптеку. Двухэтажная постройка справа принадлежала В.Т. Гадалову, однофамильцу известной в городе купеческой семьи. В конце века в нем располагалась гостиница.
