- - Caption on verso: 3,000 wildly enthusiastic sympathizers were on hand for the arrival at Penn Station, New York City, July 26th, of Attorney Samuel Leibowitz and the four colored youths whose release he won after a six-year legal battle in Alabama and federal courts. The youths were freed earlier this week of charges of assault in connection with the Scottsboro case which received international attention for six years. Three other defendants began serving prison sentences in Alabama today. In this group are, left to right: Eugene Williams, Olen Montgomery, Attorney Leibowitz, who is destroying his straw in jubilation, Willie Roberson, and Roy Wright.
