Title
- O vidro no ateliê contemporâneo
Summary
- "The work analyzes the creative process of six contemporary artists specialized in the creation of glass works, including the author. They were selected for their original and sensitive artistic language, and for their recognized trajectory in the field of art. The five artists were interviewed and a representative work of each was chosen in agreement, to observe the creation process. The research is based on the systemic model of creativity and the concept of flow developed by Csikszentmihalyi. In order to understand the insertion of the selected artists in the field of contemporary glass art, the most important international institutions in the field were shown, consolidated as museums and specialized schools, galleries and fairs. The dynamics of the creative process were observed in the perception of the artists, in the interviewees' report and in the author's self-analysis in the creation of a glass work. A script was prepared for the interview that sought to investigate inspirations, influences from the surroundings, times of conception and production of the work, rituals, acceptance of chance, use of sketches and other ways of recording ideas during the process. Technical knowledge was observed, either absorbed in schools or by the tutor of another artist, or developed in the artist's own experience, and the step by step of manufacturing each work was revealed. It is concluded that the artist works deeply involved in the process, fascinated by the creation of the shapes and plasticity of the material, such astransparencies and sparkles, which make glass an expressive material inserted in the field of contemporary art." -- Unedited translation of abstract from work.
