Title
- NCSU's Faceted Catalog: 18 Months Later
Summary
- In 2006, NCSU Libraries launched a new catalog powered by an e-commerce enterprise search engine. Years of frustration with legacy systems and inadequate search tools are driving many libraries and their vendors to create new products and services rarely seen in catalogs. In this webcast, Pace discusses: what led to the decision to implement the Endeca Information Access Platform; statistics of how patrons are using the system; entry vocabulary and authority headings issues in a faceted system; and the power that exposing library metadata and embracing newer technologies has brought to NCSU Libraries and its patrons.
