- - Satirist and novelist Christopher Buckley has worked as a speechwriter for President George H.W. Bush. After leaving the White House, he wrote "The White House Mess," a satire. His 1994 novel, "Thank You for Smoking," is a hilarious look at the life of a tobacco lobbyist; it was made into a successful film in 2005. Buckley has also satirized Washington in "Little Green Men," "No Way to Treat a First Lady" and "Florence of Arabia." His new novel is "They Eat Puppies, Don't They?" which lampoons America's relationship with China.
