Title
- Are you popular?
Summary
- The dramatized everyday situations of a group of typical 1940s high school students present the reasons why young people are or are not well liked by their peers. Caroline Ames, a new student, is friendly and considerate and expresses genuine interest in her fellow students. In contrast to Caroline is Ginny, a student who is rejected by other students for going out with too many boys, wearing red shoes, and being too direct. Through the experiences of Caroline and Wally Johnson, another polite and well-liked student, the film emphasizes the importance of not making a potential date feel like a last resort, keeping track of social obligations in a day calendar, and making a good impression when meeting a date's parents. Throughout the film, the narrator comments on the incidents shown and raises questions for discussion.
