George Rouault's "Circus of the Shooting Star" (1938) was a massive undertaking by one of the most creative artists of the twentieth century. Rouault's circus contains seventy-four wood engravings and seventeen complex aquatints to illustrate the artist's deeply spiritual rumination on humanity and hope.
