  • Published in Manila in 1593, this catechism in Spanish and Tagalog is the first book printed in the Philippines. It is also the first book printed in a Philippine language and the first, and only, 16th-century source showing an explicit and distinctly Philippine abecedarium (alphabet). The book is illustrated with a woodcut frontispiece of St. Dominic and initial letters in both Spanish and Tagalog.   • This unique catechism, printed in Spanish and the Philippine language of Tagalog, is the first book printed in the Philippines, and is the only known complete copy in existence. This is also the first book printed in a Philippine language, and the first and only 16th-century source showing an explicit and distinctly Philippine abecedarium for that script. The book is illustrated with a woodcut frontispiece of St. Dominic and initial letters in both Spanish and Tagalog. In 1949 the Philippine government was allowed to reproduce the title-page of the book in order to create a stamp which was used to raise money for rebuilding local libraries in the Philippines.
