About this Item

Title

  • Below the deadline

Summary

  • There's an unwritten law that criminals are not to go "below the deadline", a no-man's land where no crooks are allowed. Claire is a gang moll whose brother goes below the deadline to commit a robbery. Detective Taggart arrests him. Beau Nash, a mob kingpin who lusts after Claire, conspires with her to get even with Taggart. Claire befriends, seduces and helps to frame Taggert's best friend, Don Cornwall, a jewelry store manager, who is convicted of the crime. When escorting Don to Sing Sing prison, Taggert allows him to escape so he can prove his innocence. Meanwhile, Claire, who has fallen in love with Don, helps him to recover the jewels and, with Taggart's help, catch the crooks.
