Fletcher, mailing address, Route 1, Box 319 Chula, GA 31733, located east of Chula in Irwin County GA, site 3 on fieldworker Bill Lightfoot's field map of Irwin County (approx. lat-long: 31.570426, -83.428067), about sassafras and other wild plants, discussion continues from part 1, no bloodroot, yellowroot, ginseng in this area, biographical note and discussion of Civil War era prompted by questions from fieldworker Carl Fleischhauer, about local bad guy Hoppin' Jake Young, said to have killed 11 blacks and 2 whites, mean and rowdy man, he had been shot in his hips (affected his movement?), about a "rising" by African Americans in Ty Ty, four were killed, Hoppin' Jake conducted the inquest, about Jake's prejudices against blacks, Jake died in the poor house, comments on medical actions, stopping blood, stick a knife in the dirt to stop bleeding in pigs, about water witching, mention of alligators, witches.
