Navy Commander Ed Godwin, a product of the "90 Day Wonder" officer training program, pulled off a rare triple: He was at Normandy on D Day, he was in Europe when the war ended there, and he was on board the first ship to enter Tokyo Bay for the surrender of the Japanese. On VE Day he was back in England, away from the fighting, but that didn’t make the celebration any less joyful.
