An interest in military history led Colonel Jonathan Newmark, then in his late 30s and practicing medicine as a clinical neurologist, to enlist in the Army Reserve. Little did he know that this decision would result in a second and third career. His time in the Reserves turned into twenty years on active duty in the Army Medical Corps, working in the field of chemical and biological terrorism. An accomplished musician, he used the GI Bill to pursue his lifelong passion for composition, earning a graduate degree from the University of Cincinnati.
