  • -  Summary of audio segment: (Has Paterson changed since you moved here?) I hear people say Paterson 20 years ago a lot of jobs, a lot of opportunties, now I can't find jobs, I can't. I can't complain about Paterson because I worked when I wanted to work. I quit the jobs when I wanted to quit. Every time that I wanted to get a job, I got it. I got the job. The only complaint I have is that here in Paterson we need more nurseries. We need more nurseries! I don't know why the people, the government is blind and deaf about this problem. People are crying for nurseries. What do the mothers do? OK, I don't find anyone else to take care of my babies, I go to welfare. That's why. I'm going to show you how many folders we have of people that are on waiting lists because we don't have room. A lot of people come to me and tell me, "I'll pay you, I'll pay you, but please give me a room for my child. I need to work, I don't want to go to welfare." Desperately we need nurseries here in Paterson. You can't imagine.
