This position serves as a Junior Interior Designer for Space Utilization Planning and Design (SUPD) Division, Integrated Service Support Directorate, Library of Congress (LC).
Advises on all spaces involved in new construction projects from construction drawings. Performs surveys of LC buildings to maintain current overall awareness of facilities and general environmental conditions. Reviews summary results with supervisor for next actions. Influences new construction during all phases of construction by analyzing user requirements and the availability of furnishings to satisfy needs. Prepares preliminary space plans for proposed projects, including detailed specifications, to evaluate alternatives. Works directly with support services for electrical support, carpentry, plumbing, air conditioning, telephone and computer terminal locations, changes for installation of new or change of location of furniture, and/or repair and specifications for the fabrication of shelving, cabinetry, etc. Meets with customers to confirm scope of work, document requirements; gather data relating to furniture, equipment, utilities and special needs and reviews results with supervisor for further actions.
