Detail/Temporary Promotion: Library Technician
The African and Middle Eastern Division Near East Section is offering an opportunity for a qualified individual at the GS-06 level to serve on a full-time, 90-day temporary promotion to the GS-07 level OR a qualified individual at the GS-07 level (no promotion) to serve on a full-time 90-day detail as Library Technician in the Near East Section of the African & Middle Eastern Division (AMED.)
The incumbent Library Technician will support the processing of holdings and item records for monographs, bound serials and microfilm and shelving incoming materials. In addition, the incumbent will support the reference desk in the African and Middle Eastern Division Reading Room with basic reference assistance, use of the equipment, searching the catalog, retrieving materials from the stacks and security of the materials while in use in the reading room.

- Ability to support projects related to collection management.
- Ability to provide consultation or liaison duties.

This temporary promotion or detail will be for a 90 day period. This opportunity is open to permanent staff of the Library of Congress. The work schedule is flextime, Monday thru Friday, 40 hours per week onsite, telework is not available.
