The Space Planning Officer works under the general supervision of the Chief, Facility Services Division (FACS) who provides broad policy guidance and direction. The incumbent advises Library leaders on facilities planning decisions to accommodate growth and change while preserving the heritage and enriching environments that support the LOC’s mission. The Space Planning Officer is responsible for performing integrated space management to ensure that the allocation of all Library space, including collection storage, exhibit, reading room, office space and facilities, meets the highest and best use in the context of institutional strategic priorities. The incumbent is responsible for understanding, representing and planning for the supply and capacity of the space needs of the Library’s property portfolio.
