Designed as a basic introduction for researchers and staff. Tour the reading room and learn about our favorite databases.
This course is taught by our reference specialists and is designed as a basic introduction for researchers using the Newspaper & Current Periodical Reading Room's collections and resources. Each hour-long session includes a tour of the N&CPR Reading Room, procedures on how to locate and request materials, and using various equipment such as microfilm machines and scanners. Online databases that contain full-text historical newspapers such as "America's Historical Newspapers," "ProQuest Historical Newspapers," and freely accessible resources like "Chronicling America," will also be discussed and demonstrated.

Please note that this class is held is on-site and the maximum class size is 10 researchers. Patrons are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes prior to the orientation.
