Edward G. Robinson, James Cagney and Warner Bros.—three names synonymous with the pre-code era—are in top form in these two gems, both presented in brand-new 35mm prints generated by the Library's Packard Campus film preservation lab. In "The Hatchet Man," Robinson plays an enforcer for a Chinese syndicate who must execute his childhood friend and vows to take care of his daughter. In "Hard to Handle," Cagney is a fast-talking publicity man promoting everything form marathon dance contests to skin creams to Florida real estate. Doors open at 6 p.m.
