The most famous of baseball songs, Take Me Out to the Ballgame, provides little known, fascinating connections among baseball, music, suffrage, social activism and vaudeville. Against the backdrop of the tune’s heroine, Katie Casey, and her love of baseball, this program, co-created by George Boziwick and Trudy Williams, traces and animates the social and musical interactions by which the song’s chorus grew into one of America’s most popular refrains. George Boziwick retired from The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center in 2017 after a 31-year career as a music librarian, including eleven as Chief of the Music Division. Trudy Williams holds a PhD in Developmental Psychology from the City University of New York and is a 2019 recipient of The American Antiquarian Visiting Fellowship for Historical Research by Creative and Performing Artists and Writers.
