In this program for children and their families, Studio Ghibli writer, producer and director Kihara Hirokatsu will discuss his experience in Japanese anime production and the inspirations for Totoro and other animated films. Together with singer and voice actress Diana Garnett, Hirokatsu will share the joys of creating an animated film. Hirokatsu will give the talk in Japanese with an English interpreter. Free and open to the public.
“Anime for All,” a celebration of east-Asian culture, mythology, pop culture and inspiration, returns to the Library of Congress. Concert performances, movie screenings and a display of Japanese Library treasures will take place over a series of days inside the Thomas Jefferson Building. Presented in conjunction with the 25th annual Otakon conference in Washington, D.C.
