Join us on the Southeast lawn at the Thomas Jefferson Building for a performance of D.C.’s all-women Afro-Brazilian drumming troop Batalá Washington. Batalá Washington's mission is to empower women through drumming and expose people to Brazil’s dynamic Afro Bahian culture and Samba Reggae music. The group will be performing prior to the sundown screening of the film “Iron Man” (2008).
No tickets are required, but visitors are encouraged to arrive early as space is limited. Visitors must stay with their items on the lawn at all times. Guests may bring their own blankets, chairs, food and beverages, but alcohol is prohibited.
