Join us for an evening of celebration at the Library of Congress' Literary Costume Ball. Come dressed as your favorite literary figure and enjoy a DJ dance set, themed food and cocktails, a curated display of Library collections, photo opportunities within the shelves of our collections, caricature artists, and other exciting experiences in D.C.'s most beautiful building. We’ll even crown one of our literary figures as the “Best Dressed” for the evening – costume creativity is encouraged!

Whether you dress as Sherlock Holmes or The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Ernest Hemingway or Zora Neale Hurston, all characters and authors are welcome. Don't miss this opportunity to dance the night away at the Library of Congress!

Please note – tickets are required for this event. Tickets were offered via a free ticket lottery that closed on Thursday, Aug 31.

Selected guests received emails on Sept. 1 notifying them that they secured tickets to the event. A very limited number of tickets will be offered at the door the day of the event, but we cannot guarantee entry to this program for walk-ups without a confirmed ticket.
