“Mangyan” is a term often used to refer to several Indigenous communities on the island of Mindoro, Philippines. This virtual panel event focuses on Mangyan scripts and literary heritage, as well as Mangyan collections at the Library of Congress, the Mangyan Heritage Center, Newberry Library and Yale Peabody Museum.
Following presentations, there will be a question and answer session with panelists Uyan Daay, Emerenciana (Emily) Lorenzo Catapang and Louward Allen Zubiri (Mangyan Heritage Center), Patricia Okubo Afable (Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History), Will Hansen and Analú Maria López (Huachichil/Xi'iui) (Newberry Library) and Joshua Kueh (Library of Congress).
